Background

Prior to joining Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP, Ms. Fernandes was an associate at Sheldon Lobel, P.C. where her practice focused on land use, zoning and general real property law. She represented real estate developers, local businesses, not-for-profits, national corporations and homeowners in a variety of real estate, land use and zoning matters, including securing zoning and land use relief for clients from the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals and the New York City Planning Commission. Her work included seeing applications through the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) and presenting matters at public hearings to community boards, borough presidents, the New York City Planning Commission and the New York City Council. In addition, Ms. Fernandes assisted clients with obtaining approvals from the New York City Department of Buildings, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, New York City Fire Department and other New York City agencies for development projects within the five boroughs. She also worked on a variety of real estate transactional matters, including transfers of real property and cooperative apartments, and the drafting of easement agreements, restrictive declarations and agreements.
