Participated in industry and association meetings and obtain information to extend to clients. Provided pesticide compliance audit at pesticide-producing facility. The Steritech Group (1999-2001). Served as Quality Assurance Supervisor for IPM accounts with Smithsonian Institution and National Institutes of Health and prepared reports on data collected from these programs. Provided pest preventionand pesticideapplication training to branch employees. Provided technical assistance on pesticide use and pest identification to several branches within the company. Assured that employees of the branch complied with state and federal pest control laws.

LSU Agricultural Center (1998-1999). Assisted in conducting a termite management program in New Orleans, LA in cooperation with City, State, and Federal agencies. Inspected properties under termite control contracts with private pest control operators to ensure State specifications were met. Assisted in developing education programs for pest control operators and the public and presented material during meetings, television news programs, and radio broadcasts. Prepared written educational material for homeowners on termite biology and control and French Quarter program and regularly consulted with homeowners on termite help-line. Collected field data to assess success of program Attended academic and technical meetings to present data and obtain information to extend to the public.

Contract Entomologist Assistantship

US Army CHPPM – South (1997-1998). Prepared integrated pest management (IPM) plans for Oklahoma and Puerto Rico Army National Guard installations. Inspected Army and National Guard facilities to assess pest problems and survey pest control operations including pesticide storage and equipment maintenance. Provided IPM information and identified pest specimens for the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.

Graduate Research Assistantship
|
UGA Entomology Department (1995-1997). Studied social interactions of subterranean termites. Investigated behavioral cues in nest mate recognition and worker polyethism using behavioral analysis software. Tested the reusability of termite monitors used in baiting strategies for the control of subterranean termites. Used electron microscopy to investigate potential morphological structures that aid survival of termite submersion. Completed academic and research requirements to receive a Master of Science degree. Published three reports in refereed scientific journals. Presented several talks and posters on research at professional meetings. Awarded UGA Entomology’s Outstanding M.S. Student Award.
