Practice Description
As part of the Environmental Practice Group, Ms. Meara ‘s work includes the environmental, land use and local government law aspects of property development. She also provides advice on brownfields liability and remediation, on compliance with statutes ranging from right to know laws to state public lands law, and on the administrative law aspects of environmental matters. Ms. Meara’s litigation practice includes general commercial disputes, bankruptcy, challenges to administrative determinations, and white-collar criminal defense. Ms. Meara also represents companies in contracting matters with the City of New York.

Prior Experience
- Prior to her legal career, Ms. Meara worked in New York City government for over a decade. Most recently, she served as Director of the Mayor’s Office of City Legislative Affairs. In that capacity, she and her team advanced Mayoral legislative, land use and budget initiatives and defended the interests of the executive branch in negotiations with the City Council. Her key accomplishments included securing passage of the Mayor’s Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan and the rezoning of the Greenpoint and Williamsburg neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Ms. Meara has also worked for the New York City Housing Authority and the Finance Division of the New York City Council.
