Ron Spencer Discusses Entrustment Doctrine at Art Industry Forum
On Wednesday, May 18, art law counsel Ronald D. Spencer presented to a group of art dealers, collectors, and insurers at a "dealer forum" breakfast hosted by the insurance brokerage and risk management firm DeWitt Stern. Mr. Spencer discussed entrustment, conversion, and the ramifications and options for owners of artwork when artwork cannot be recovered from an entrustee. Mr. Spencer’s presentation followed up on an earlier article by Carter Ledyard associate Elizabeth C. Black, "Entrustment, The Hidden Title Risk of Leaving Your Artwork in the Care or Possession of Others -- Will Your Fine Art Insurance Cover Your Loss? Probably Not," published in the Winter 2011 issue of Spencer’s Art Law Journal.
