Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP provides legal advice and counsel to owners, contractors and subcontractors in connection with construction contracts, lien filings and discharges as well as Lien Law diversion of trust fund actions. Our attorneys have also handled litigations or arbitrations among owners, contractors and architects for breach of construction contracts and damages arising there from. Our experience in the construction field is quite diverse and includes:

• preparation, negotiation and interpretation of construction contracts of all sizes and types, including complete familiarity with general and supplemental conditions and experiences in analysis of technical specifications;
• regular representation of owners and trade contractors with respect to contract interpretation, delays and change order requests;
• litigation ranging from simple contract balance and change order claims to complex, multi-prime contractor delays, loss of efficiency, dozens of depositions, motions, interlocutory appeals, and voluminous document production and analysis;
• arbitration of construction issues; and
• experience with mechanic's liens in New York and elsewhere including filing of name, summary discharge, lien foreclosure actions on behalf of both lienors and owners, bonding of liens and negotiation of settlements of many dozens of mechanic's lien claims.
