NEW YORK, August 18, 2009 – Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is pleased to announce that Yasuhiro Saito has joined the firm as Partner effective August 17, 2009. Mr. Saito will continue his practice in Japanese related litigation practice work in the firm’s Litigation Department and will work from the New York office, located on Wall Street. He was previously Counsel and Leader of the Japan-Related Litigation Practice Group at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP.

Mr. Saito’s practice concentrates in the areas of Complex Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation and Commercial Arbitration and Mediation.
His often published work includes co-authoring “U.S. Litigation Winning Strategies,” an ILS Publication and “The HartfordDecision: Two Years On,” for International Litigation News, and the monthly column, “This is How US Litigators Fight,” for the Monthly Lawyer. He is also a frequent speaker and panelist on litigation issues, and was invited to be a panelist at the Global D&O Liability Conference in New York in the Spring and Fall of 2008, among others in Tokyo, New York and London. He has also made various media appearances as a commentator in Japan.
He currently is a Board Member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York, which he formally served for three years as the co-chair of the Litigation Committee.
Mr. Saito earned a LL.B from Keio University in Japan in 1989 and a JD from St. John’s University in 1992. From 1992 to 1994, he was a law clerk to Hon. John T. Elfvin, United States District Judge for the Western District of New York.
