STEVEN PAUL McSLOY JOINS CARTER LEDYARD & MILBURN LLP AS PARTNER
NEW YORK, NY (July 13, 2015) – Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP (www.clm.com) is pleased to announce that Steven Paul McSloy has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate Department effective July 13, 2015. With over 25 years of experience, Mr. McSloy’s practice concentrates on corporate finance, including commercial lending, debt securities issuance, tax-exempt lending, workouts, joint ventures and general corporate matters. He is also one of the Nation’s leading experts on Native American Law and finance, and has been lead counsel in financing hotels, casinos, retail outlets, energy projects and municipal buildings on tribal lands. Mr. McSloy joins Carter Ledyard from Dentons New York office, where he was a partner.

Steve McSloy has extensive experience representing investment banks, commercial banks, developers and governments in all manner of financings, including Rule 144A debt issuances, high yield bonds, syndicated credit agreements, asset-based lending, private placements, workouts and restructurings. At the height of the financial crisis in 2009, Steve served as the Deputy Chief Liquidating Officer for Lehman Brothers Inc., working to return billions in assets to customers around the world. Steve has been ranked in Band 1 in Chambers USA since 2006 for Native American Law, and since 2007 has been ranked in Best Lawyers in America as well. He is an elected member of the International Masters of Gaming Law.
Mr. McSloy received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1988 and his B.A. magna cum laude from New York University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, in 1985. He has served as the General Counsel of the Oneida Indian Nation of New York and its Turning Stone Casino and as an Assistant Professor of Corporate Law at St. John’s University School of Law. He is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, where he lectures on Native American Law. He is the author of numerous law review articles and has written United States Supreme Court amicus briefs on tribal law matters, and frequently lectures at conferences and seminars on Native American financing issues. He began his legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he worked for many years on all manner of financings, from steel plants to casinos and hotels to ships and aircraft.
