CARTER LEDYARD & MILBURN LLP NAMES CHRISTOPHER RIZZO PARTNER AND ANNE K. GERSON AND LEONARDO TRIVIGNO COUNSEL
NEW YORK, NY (February 4, 2016) – Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP (www.clm.com) is pleased to announce that Christopher Rizzo has become a partner and Anne K. Gerson and Leonardo Trivigno have become counsel to the firm effective January 1, 2016. Mr. Rizzo was previously counsel to the firm. Ms. Gerson and Mr. Trivigno were previously associates at the firm.

Christopher Rizzo’s practice includes a wide variety of litigation, environmental and land-use matters. They include litigation and transactional matters arising out of environmental impact reviews for state and city-sponsored projects, compliance with local zoning and preservation laws, open space preservation, open space easements, development agreements and licenses, management of hazardous materials and energy generation. His practice also includes general litigation, often related to land-use disputes and contract disputes. In a pro-bono capacity, he is involved in several community-based organizations focused on the revitalization of New York City’s parks and public spaces. He currently serves as chairman of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park Inc., trustee of the Porzelt Foundation, member of the Riverdale Merchants Association and board member of New Yorkers for Parks. Mr. Rizzo received his B.A. summa cum laude in 1997 from Manhattan College and his J.D. cum laude in 2001 from Pace University School of Law School.
Anne K. Gerson represents and counsels tax-exempt organizations on a variety of matters, with a particular focus on federal tax issues and issues specific to arts-related organizations. Her knowledge includes the formation of new nonprofits; corporate governance and fiduciary issues; and the establishment and preservation of tax-exempt status. Ms. Gerson frequently provides guidance on complex tax issues and financial transactions between tax-exempt and taxable participants. She also conducts investigations involving the misappropriation of charitable funds and represents clients in connection with Internal Revenue Service audits. She currently serves as a Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, Inc. Ms. Gerson received her B.A. magna cum laude in 1999 from the University of Pennsylvania where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and she was a Tax Policy Fellow at New York University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2004 and an LL.M. in Taxation in 2005.
Leonardo Trivigno’s practice focuses on restructuring and bankruptcy matters. Mr. Trivigno has represented corporate trustees for public and private corporate and municipal debt in connection with defaults and restructurings, defendants in adversary proceedings, including former investors with Bernard Madoff in “claw-back” actions, and purchasers of residential mortgage backed securities. He has also represented clients in general commercial disputes, including claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, quantum meruit, trademark infringement, civil RICO violations and commercial mortgage foreclosures, and has represented clients in criminal cases. Mr. Trivigno has litigated matters before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, state, federal trial and bankruptcy courts in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania, and has arbitrated matters before the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association and FINRA. He received his B.A. summa cum laude in 2002 from Binghamton University and his J.D. cum laude in 2005 from Brooklyn Law School.
