On September 5, 2018, Carter Ledyard counsel Faith Colish participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. The program, “Let Entrepreneurs Raise Capital Using Finders and Private Placement Brokers” opened with Rep. Ted Budd of North Carolina’s 13th District and was followed by a panelist of speakers including Ms. Colish, Karen Kerrigan, president of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, and attorney Martin Hewitt.
The discussion centered around efforts to develop a better regulatory structure for finders that help small businesses raise capital. Ms. Colish is a long-time member and former Chair of the ABA Task Force on Private Placement Brokers and Congressman Budd has introduced H.R. 6127 that would address this problem. Ms. Colish also led a group of lawyers who requested and received an SEC No-Action Letter on M&A Brokers issued in January 2014.
