Don Kennedy Comments on the Seaman’s Manslaughter Charges Against Ferry Director
Litigation maritime partner Donald J. Kennedy was quoted in the August 5, 2004 New York Times article entitled “Ferry Director Is Charged by U.S. in Fatal Accident,” written by Michael Luo. The article highlighted the prosecution’s case against the five people charged in the fatal crash of the Staten Island ferry, and focused on the charges facing ferry director Patrick Ryan. Mr. Kennedy commented on legal precedents for charging people other than a ship's officer under the seaman's manslaughter law.
