Robert McTamaney Quoted in Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on the Martin Act
Corporate Partner Robert A. McTamaney was quoted in an article appearing in the September 13, 2007 issue of Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on the Martin Act. The article, “Investigation of Hevesi Escalates,” elucidates Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s use of the Martin Act signaling an aggressive escalation of his investigation into whether contributors to former New York state Comptroller, Alan Hevesi’s, political campaigns received payoffs in the form of investment business for the state’s $155 pension fund. Mr. McTamaney contributed to the article by explaining the Martin Act, allowing the Attorney General to investigate any fraudulent practice, is extraordinarily broad, conveying severe penalties and standards that are simple to satisfy.
