Alan Lewis Spoke on WNYC Radio Segment on the Martin Act
Litigation Partner Alan Lewis spoke on the Martin Act during the “Acting Out” segment on WNYC Radio on September 20, 2007. This segment discusses how New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s is invoking the Martin Act to sue at least five energy companies on the grounds that any new coal-fired power plant could be a more risky investment than the energy companies admit. Mr. Lewis contributed to the segment by explaining the use of the Martin Act, including its unique broadness and how it regulates fraudulent practices in connection with the sale of securities. According to Mr. Lewis, the Martin Act has never been used to attack a problem as global in nature as global warming.
