Clifford Case Featured in Lloyd’s List on Warning Shipping Industry Bosses About Facing Sentences and Fines
Environmental Partner Clifford P. Case III was featured in “How a sketchy understanding of environmental crime can result in a brush with the law,” which appeared in the September 25, 2007 issue of Lloyd’s List. The article exemplified the recent mistrust within the maritime industry because of likely prosecutions, fines and prison terms due to arising concern among the public and regulators. According to Mr. Case, senior management are increasingly likely to find themselves directly in the firing line and facing sentences and any large fines. He advises prudent shipowners, managers and operators to become familiar with recent maritime environmental crime cases and anticipate facing the same cases, sentences, fines and penalties if conduct doesn’t improve.
