CL&M Mourns the Passing of Retired Partner George Minkin

Our retired partner George Minkin died on Sunday, December 25 at age 91.  Mr. Minkin joined CL&M in 1986 from Guggenheim & Untermeyer. Over his long career, George earned the trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike. He was expert in the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935, and represented Standard Gas & Electric, Virginia Electric Power Co., Allegheny Power and General Public Utilities. In his later years his practice focused on tax law.
George Minkin received B.A.  (1941), LL.B. (1947), and LL.M. (1948) degrees from Harvard University. His studies were interrupted by service in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. From 1948 to 1950, he was Assistant Dean at Harvard Law School.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues at Carter Ledyard.
