Daniel McSwiggan Quoted Regarding the Importance of Living Wills

Trusts and Estates partner Daniel J. McSwiggan was quoted in the Investor’s Business Daily article “End Life Support When You Want With A Living Will” on March 9, 2012 regarding the importance of creating living wills and designating a health care proxy.   Mr. McSwiggan commented that the most important point to consider when designating a health care proxy is that the person being appointed understands and accepts the wishes of the principal. Whether or not the agent happens to be a medical professional is unimportant. He also noted that when establishing a living will, the primary goal should be to have a general directive in place so that any anxieties regarding detailed instructions do not forestall the execution of a living will.
