Judith Wallace Quoted in Maine Antiques Digest

Litigation associate Judith Wallace was quoted in the June 2012 issue of Maine Antiques Digest regarding CL&M’s recent victory in Mirvish v. Mott. In that decision, the New York State Court of Appeals unanimously reversed the lower court’s decision in agreeing with CL&M that its client, Canadian art collector and gallery owner David Mirvish, was the true owner of a sculpture entitled The Cry by Jacques Lipchitz (cast 3 of 7). Noting that plantiffs had pursued this over a long period of time, Wallace was quoted saying, “We hope this is the end of the line. The Court of Appeals was unanimous, and I think it would be hard to argue that the Court of Appeals misunderstood the facts. They decided it based on essentially very basic principles of gift law with a settlement agreement. We are hopeful we will get the sculpture very soon.”
