NEW YORK, September 5, 2002 - Wall Street law firm Carter, Ledyard & Milburn announced today that it represented DakoCytomation A/S in its acquisition of the Artisan® instrument business from CytoLogix Inc. CytoLogix' Artisan® is a state of the art tissue staining instrument used in pathology labs for cancer diagnosis. According to terms of the agreement, DakoCytomation will assume all rights to the product as well as responsibility for continued technical support and customer service.

DakoCytomation A/S is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has significant R&D and manufacturing activities in the USA and in England. It is a leading in vitro diagnostic company specializing in the identification of cancer markers on samples obtained from tissue and body fluids. DakoCytomation's cutting-edge technology in immuno-chemistry, protein chemistry and instrument development enables physicians around the world to link diagnostic tests with specific therapies, thus optimizing patient treatment. The privately held company with operations in 20 countries and distributors in 50 other countries employs 1400 people.

CytoLogix Corporation, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., is a leading innovator in laboratory technology for histology, molecular diagnostics and genomics. The Artisan instrument is the first slide-staining instrument to use individual slide heating, a technology that facilitates superior staining quality.
