On May 9, the Tax-Exempt Organizations Group of Carter Ledyard, together with the principals of Plan A Advisors, a nonprofit consulting company, hosted a Breakfast Symposium on Effective Nonprofit Governance at Carter Ledyard’s Wall Street office. Pamela Mann and Anne Gerson of Carter Ledyard and Evan Kingsley and Adam Gaynor of Plan A discussed the role and responsibilities of the Board of Directors in nonprofits and optimal ways for Boards to conduct the business of the organization at and outside of meetings. The group of executives and Board members in attendance held a lively discussion on the topics of Board member evaluation, recordkeeping, and other governance concerns.
