Working closely with Her Justice, Carter Ledyard continues to assist pro bono clients apply for their U nonimmigrant status (“U-Visa”), which is a form of legal immigration status available to victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse, and who assist law enforcement or other government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity. Most recently, Carter Ledyard has helped one client obtain her final approval of legal status and has helped three additional women obtain their deferred approval for legal status (which secures a place on the government’s waiting list for final approval). Carter Ledyard has also assisted three clients obtain employment authorization. These successful results were obtained by CLM attorneys Christine Fazio, Judith Wallace, Josephine Yoon, Karen Meara, Len Trivigno, and Justin Peters, with significant assistance from legal assistant Bill Borenstein.
