James Sherwood, a longtime client and friend of Carter Ledyard, passed away on Monday, May 18th at the age of 86. Born in Lexington, KY, and a graduate of Yale University, Mr. Sherwood, a resounding presence in the cargo passenger transportation industry for decades after founding Sea Containers Inc. in 1965, later became influential across multiple subsets of the hospitality industry, founding the Orient-Express hotel group and relaunching the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a luxury train service between London and Venice. We remember Mr. Sherwood, celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
