Despite its continued federal prohibition, marijuana legalization was one of the big winners of the 2020 legislative cycle. Carter Ledyard partner Alex Malyshev, Co-chair of the firm’s Cannabis, Hemp & CBD Industry Group, recently penned an article for the New York Law Journal titled, “Cannabis Legalization in New York: Is Fifth Time Finally the Charm?” The article discusses the cannabis legalization deal recently reached by the governor and the legislature, and the changes coming to New York’s cannabis market as a result.
