On February 4 and March 4, 2021, Carter Ledyard partner Chris Rizzo moderated panel discussions for New Yorkers for Parks Inc. regarding strategies for using New York’s Business Improvement District Law to raise revenue for maintenance of city parks. Representatives from the New York City Department of Small Business Services, Hudson Yards/Hells Kitchen Alliance, Downtown Brooklyn Association, Third Avenue BID, Hudson River Foundation, Gowanus Canal Conservancy and others participated.
New York City has 76 business improvement districts that spend $167,000,000 providing supplemental city services in all five boroughs, including maintenance of parks, streets and other public open spaces.
