Carter Ledyard partner James Gadsden is a member of the drafting committee of the Commercial and Uniform State Laws Committee of the New York City Bar that prepared a Report for the City Bar’s Task Force on Digital Technologies addressing issues presented by new technology. The New York City Bar Association launched this Task Force to deal with issues involving developing and emerging technologies that impact the practice and delivery of legal services, and address how these issues are affecting policy and global economies.

The Report, released on February 16 (available at http://bit.ly/3Iu5fUZ), endorses enactment of the New York version of the Emerging Technology Amendments to the Official Text of the Uniform Commercial Code (2022). The Report is “designed to modernize, rationalize and clarify New York’s UCC so that it effectively governs transactions in digital assets,” according to the NYCB Executive Summary.
