Carter Ledyard is pleased to initiate work this month with Safe Passage Project Inc., a charitable legal services organization that represents and finds pro-bono attorneys to represent undocumented minors that cross the border into the United States. Safe Passage Project, housed at New York Law School, is funded by grants from the New York City Council, foundations and individuals with the goal of ensuring that no minors appear in U.S. Immigration Court to face removal proceedings without an attorney. The work has taken on new importance in the past five years, as the majority of undocumented persons crossing the border from Mexico has shifted from largely single adults to families with children and unaccompanied minors.
