Jodutt “Joe” Basrawi Joins an Elite Group of Leaders in Intellectual Property
Carter Ledyard is pleased to announce that the International Trademark Association (INTA) has honored Jodutt Basrawi, Associate at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP in New York, New York, USA, as the 2024 recipient of INTA’s Tomorrow’s Leader Award. The Tomorrow’s Leader Award recognizes two outstanding young practitioners with less than five years of IP experience for their early leadership in the intellectual property (IP) industry. This award was established to strengthen both professional and personal development for the recipients and raise their visibility as tomorrow’s leaders within the trademark community.
“This award affirms that important, smart, and capable people from all over the world either share or support my belief that IP is a catalyst for human potential in every community worldwide,” said Mr. Basrawi. “Being involved with INTA has positively impacted my career by connecting me with a remarkable network of people who share my passion for using trademark law, and its many intersecting topics, to make our communities better places.”
This year’s INTA awards were presented during an awards ceremony at the Association’s 2024 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Mr. Basrawi has built an evolution in his career from a patent examiner to a robust and impactful career as an IP lawyer at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP. He has engaged in large client engagements with the firm as well as pro bono work regarding trademark strategies for two non-profit organizations, one of which involves a trademark application for a pet clothing brand. His leadership has also included serving as a mock trial coach for students at New York City’s famed LaGuardia High School. Much of Mr. Basrawi’s passion for trademark law derives from his Syrian heritage and his belief that IP drives innovation and defends essential freedoms. He is a member of INTA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee.
