Amy Cushman is an associate in Carter Ledyard’s Trusts & Estates practice. She advises individuals and families on estate planning, probate, and estate administration matters. Amy assists clients in developing estate and gift tax strategies designed to meet their personal and financial goals, facilitate the orderly transfer of assets, and address tax considerations.
Amy previously served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Rosemarie Montalbano in the Kings County Surrogate’s Court, where she gained experience with probate and administration proceedings. Her familiarity with Surrogate’s Court practice provides valuable perspective when guiding clients through estate administration.
Amy earned her JD from Brooklyn Law School. While in school, Amy served as Executive Notes Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review and was a published author in the journal.
Before entering the legal profession, Amy worked as a program manager at a B2B SaaS company in New York, overseeing operational initiatives. She also taught mathematics at a public charter school while earning her M.S. in K–6 General and Special Education from Touro College.
