Rachel B. Coan Joins Carter Ledyard as Partner

Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is pleased to announce that Rachel B. Coan has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate Department effective November 11, 2016. She advises investment banks, banks, life insurance and reinsurance companies and other businesses on a variety of capital markets and other corporate transactions, including numerous transactions involving derivatives. 

Rachel’s representations of investment banks have included acting as underwriters’ or placement agent’s counsel in offerings of debt, equity, and hybrid securities, the development of new risk transfer products and programs related to longevity and mortality risk, and cross-border structured tax transactions. Her work on behalf of life insurance and reinsurance companies has included many redundant reserve financings and other structured financing transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has represented numerous banks as lenders, trustees and collateral agents.   For other clients, including energy companies, she has assisted with corporate restructurings, financing transactions, the development of swap and hedging programs and related Dodd-Frank and other regulatory compliance procedures.
