Carter Ledyard Client ST Bungalow LLC and Molinelli Architects have been awarded a patent for a breakthrough method of making a roof using fiberglass resin forms secured in place with a binder such as cement or compressed earth brick (CEBs) material. The form becomes an integral part of the roof system and remains in place to provide tensile strength: no rebar or mesh is needed. The inventor is Michael Molinelli AIA LEED ap NCARB, of Molinelli Architects, and author of “Build Neat Stuff.” The roof invention is intended to be a key component to low cost, affordable, solar powered and eco-friendly housing being developed jointly between ST Bungalow LLC and Molinelli Architects. Associate Libby Varghese and Patent Agent Yan Hankin worked on this application.
