Partner and Chair of Carter Ledyard’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice, Matt Dunn recently provided commentary in an article published in the Cybersecurity Law Report titled “Google’s Wiretap Cases Highlight Evolving Privacy Transparency Standards.” Discussing a recent settlement of a class action suit against Google regarding state and federal wiretap laws, Matt offered insights on the suit relating to Google’s tracking of users’ internet browsing activity and collection of data without consent while users were in “Incognito mode” or private browsing mode. He emphasized that cases like these underscores the importance for companies collecting user data to ensure their privacy policies offer adequate notice of data collection practices and maintain transparency.
