I enjoy working with a diverse array of clients to assist them in efficiently solving environmental problems, carefully navigating a complex regulatory landscape, and avoiding future environmental liabilities.
Advising clients on environmental, land use, and litigation matters, Nicholas Tapert handles a wide range of issues for private and public sector clients, including corporations, government agencies, public utilities, non-profit organizations, and private landowners. His practice focuses on environmental review, compliance and due diligence, project permitting, hazardous materials management, defense against administrative enforcement actions, and disputes among property owners, developers and government entities.
Possessing an intellectual curiosity, Nick educates himself and stays on top of the ever-changing landscape of environmental law and is an active member the New York City Bar Association’s Environmental Law Committee. Clients value his attention to detail and find someone who is responsive, easy to work with, and mindful of clients’ business imperatives.
Working with a team of attorneys that has deep knowledge of the environmental obligations and responsibilities of public and private sector actors in New York, Nick always seeks to leverage and draw upon the experience of his peers to provide his clients with the best and most efficient representation.
In his litigation practice, Nick represents clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts in areas outside environmental law, including intellectual property, construction, and general commercial litigation. He previously gained jury trial experience serving as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney’s Office.
