Session one of this 5 part series, titled, “Threats to the Rule of Law in America: A Survey,” will occur virtually on September 15, 2020, and will broadly survey recent developments that implicate, and may signal the rejection of, traditional Constitutional roles and customary norms of behavior within the national government and its branches. This session will also address recent challenges to laws and norms involving the impartial administration of justice by law enforcement, prosecutors, the courts, and the Executive, as well as threats to individual and societal rights generally and to marginalized communities in particular.
Steve Kass, Co-Director of Carter Ledyard’s Environmental and Land Use practice group and Chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Task Force on the Rule of Law, will chair the forum. More information about the forum, and registration for City Bar members and nonmembers alike, can be found by following this link.
