Supreme Court Reverses Jury Verdict in George Washington Bridge Case

May 14, 2020/less than a minute

On May 7th, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously reversed a jury verdict in the federal jury trial of William Baroni and Bridget Ann Kelly, holding that the defendants did not defraud the government of its “property” by closing off two local access lanes to the George Washington Bridge over three days in September 2013. Carter Ledyard partner G. Michael Bellinger, who served as a member of Mr. Baroni’s defense team cross-examining a key witness during the federal trial, remained a trusted advisor and contributor throughout the Supreme Court appeal. Associate Iliza Weitzer also assisted with the defense.
