Over the past two years, Carter Ledyard has provided direct pro-bono legal services to nonprofit organizations serving immigrants including Her Justice, an organization that provides free legal services to women and their families in domestic violence matters; Immigration Equality, a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to LGBTQ and HIV-positive undocumented immigrants facing persecution in their home counties; and Safe Passage Project, a nonprofit that works to provide pro-bono legal representation to unaccompanied minors facing immigration and removal proceedings in U.S. Immigration Court.
Through outreach and close collaboration with these organizations our lawyers have provided nearly 800 hours of legal services since January 1, 2020, including representing more than 15 undocumented or formerly undocumented immigrants seeking asylum and/or applying for citizenship. Carter Ledyard supports the efforts of these organizations to provide these legal services to undocumented persons in the United States, particularly those at risk of violence in their home countries. We look forward to continued collaboration with these nonprofit organizations.
In addition to our attorneys (pictured left), legal assistant Bill Borenstein has been a key contributor in his pro-bono assistance on behalf of these organizations.
